As I sit here writing this blog entry, I am looking outside to yet another stunning day, and a scorching 31 degrees. It’s really hard to put into words just how delightful Wanaka is all year round, but I must say, she particularly shines in summer.
After a questionable New Year period & A LOT of rain which caused the lake to rise 2.5 metres, Mother Nature is more than making up for it now!
Here are a few photos that we’ve snapped in and around town over the last month, enjoy!
It was all action on Sunday morning when the annual Rotary Duck Race kicked off as part of Wanakafest. 1500 rubber duckies raced down Bullock Creek (which runs through Clearbrook) towards Lake Wanaka with spectators young and old cheering them on! Wanaka put on a beautiful sunny morning ensuring fun was had by all. Here are a few pictures of the action!
Just when we all thought winter was at its end, Mother Nature goes and surprises us all (in a good way!) Here’s what Dougal saw as he was driving over the Crown Range at 7:30am this morning…beautiful!
Cardrona and Treble Cone have both reported over 50cm of new snow in the last 48 hours, and many have described today as the “best day of the season”! Our guests are certainly happy and are slowly arriving back at Clearbrook after a day up the mountain with huge grins on their faces (and a few sore muscles!). We love September!
After several days of freezing temperatures (and I mean FREEZING!) and endless snow flurries the sun has returned, and luckily the snow has stayed! Treble Cone, Cardrona, Snow Park and Snow Farm all have are all coated in a thick blanket of snow and I think it’s safe to say this is going to be one amazing season! So if you had any doubts about whether you should book those flights and that ski pass, perhaps this stunning photo of Treble Cone will change your mind!
Well the last few days have brought freezing temperatures and lots of snow! On the bright side the sun has been shining brightly (pun intended!) and all this early snow has brought lots of visitors to town, eager to get on the slopes and make the most of some of one of the most beautiful ski resorts on Earth!
Bernice and Dougal were lucky enough to be able to go up to Treble Cone yesterday with their little girl Zoe and let her have her very first ride on a ski lift. Look at that big smile and most importantly, look at all that snow!
And here’s another great photo from up the mountain, with Wanaka in the background.
